At the crossroads of the worlds of the living and the dead, Funeste explores the tragedies of the past experienced by forgotten lives. Founded by Quentin Chazel in 2025, who also sings and plays in the band QOYA, Funeste plunges us into the limbs of an ancient ocean, where countless beings of all ages have lost their lives. Influenced by darkwave (Dead Can Dance) and dungeon synth artists (Depressive Silence), Funeste incorporates a melancholic relief within four compositions with an intimate and enveloping atmosphere. This exploration takes shape in a first EP entitled Naufrage, to be released in self-production. Its artwork borrows from one of the engravings by the famous illustrator Gustave DorĂ©, featured in the collection of the English poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The mix and mastering were handled by James Leonard of Pentachrome Wave Studio.
