les arcanes began in 2020 as a solo project focused on exploring the very essence of the music that influences it. The project examines the nature of musical emotion—that intangible element that gives rise to unique sonic worlds.
Here, music is viewed as a tool for creating universes and forms—a means of shaping evocative, immersive spaces. The compositions drift between shoegaze and grunge, blending surf rock tones with structures borrowed from hip-hop, trip-hop, and even techno in a hybrid, textured approach.
The name “Les Arcanes Lunaires Infinies” (The Infinite Lunar Arcana)—inspired by the world of the Japanese anime *Naruto*—evokes a force capable of harnessing energy, plunging the listener into a total illusion, and sustaining the illusion of a persistent reality. The term “arcane” is embraced in its most symbolic sense: that which remains hidden, eludes the eye, or is sometimes refused sight or comprehension. The project inhabits this hazy zone, straddling the boundary between intimate perception and collective reality.
Having evolved into a full-fledged band in 2023, Les Arcanes is now developing a powerful live presence conceived as a collective ritual: a circle formed with the audience, shared energy, and total immersion. Influenced by bands such as TAGABOW, Julie, Blue Smiley, and Duster—as well as the aesthetic of the Philadelphia music scene—the group performs in Lyon and across France, with the ambition of gradually expanding its reach.
